I am sure that I am not the only one who has had Scholastic book fairs that happened in their elementary school. It was one of the most exhilarating events to occur (even if I didn’t have any money to spend).

There were many graphic novels; Amulet, Captain Underpants, etc. But my favorite graphic novel was the Bone series by Jeff Smith.

Even if I wasn’t able to purchase the books when I was little, I was fortunate enough to have a school library that carried most of the books within the series.
Not only is the storyline fun and interesting, but the art style is something that I even love today. I wasn’t able to fully understand the story when I was younger, as it does have a bit more complex wording for a 6-year-old to be able to understand easily, but Jeff Smith was still able to convey most of the story with the art and panels.
Now that I am an adult, I finally have ‘big girl money’ to spend on this series. I have gone through it many times, and I have never gotten bored. It’s a very nostalgic series but now I am able to fully understand what Jeff Smith was trying to convey with both image and text.
Even if this book is a bit complex for super young kids and some may think it’s too simple for adults, I find that it would be enjoyable for both ages.
